Italy. Tuesday, 6/17/14

Today's first stop was in Pisa.  The major attraction, of course, is the walled city where in lies the cathedral and the leaning bell tower.  It's actually very impressive.

Before we knew it, we were back on the bus headed for Firenze (Florence) (Actually an appropriate amount of time in Pisa.)

Florence is a nice size city originally built in the Roman times and right in the center of Tuscany. About 500,000 people now live there.  Lots of areas had been destroyed during WWII so there is a well blended mixture of old and newer.  Fortunately the historically significant churches survived.

We were taken on a walking tour to 3 Piazza's to enjoy the Churches and significant places in between.  About 5 hours in Firenze today until we headed back to Montecatini Terme for the night.

A dinner was organized for us tonight at the hotel.  Except for the winery last night, the organized dinners have been so-so.  We opted to wander around town tonight instead. We found a couple souvenirs and hunted down our own dinner.

Tomorrow we head northwest to Bologna and Venice.
